Spiritually Pragmatic
This was recommended to me by Kaila in my massage therapy course. I’ve been impressed with her intellect and grasp of deep psychological and spiritual matters and noticed she’s also shared she wants to focus on what she can use and not get too caught up in the mass of information out there. She mentioned this book the first time we spoke and a couple weeks later reminded me that she had. So, I ordered it within the hour. The one thing I can personally do without, well two, are all the astrology bits at the ends of most chapters for one. Even though I have a respect for the history and use and even the relevance of this body of work, I just don’t like it. It feels a bit convoluted to me at times even though I can usually derive some meaning from it. And the second is some of the extra history of alchemy, although I think this is likely important to include for many readers. Otherwise, the many descriptions of each step of and the exercises recommended and well described throughout for each step of the spiritual alchemy described in the (original) Emerald Tablet are welcome and I believe it will be very useful.
Also, this book inspired me to fast and so I did a 48 hour fast recently and intend to do another soon.
I’ll be revisiting some of the practices as I go through each fast and journaling during these times especially.
Thank you, Kaila. I hope to have many more conversations with you on this and other topics and hope my having read this can help bring some more of that about for us. Namaste and stuff.
